What does the BIBLE have to say?
June 16 Just so you know......I very rarely check MSN Spaces any more. I've had so many problems with this site that it seems like it's more trouble than it's worth! I will eventually start bloging again, but for now being a mother of two demanding little girls is more than enough to keep me busy! I do however check my Myspace site at least weekly and update it much more often. Check it out for the latest on the Oldham family and current pictures of our newest little blessing: Kathryn Simone!
God Bless,
Amber
Christians
By Maya Angelou
When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'." I'm whispering "I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven." When I say... "I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide. When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak And need His strength to carry on. When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed And need God to clean my mess. When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible But, God believes I am worth it. When I say... "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches So I call upon His name. When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow! March 05 More than a rabbit and some eggs..."Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again." Mark 10:33 & 34 Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." Luke 24:46 & 47 HALLELUJAH! HE IS RISEN! January 18 Mom's ObituaryKathryn “Kathy” Louise Larsen was born on October 22, 1955 to Art and Lois Larsen of Seattle, Washington. She was the youngest of six children born in the Larsen family. Her siblings were Jerry, Doreen, Leon, Sandi, and Jay. Kathy met her first husband Scott Sandon through mutual friends. They fell in love and were married on August 6, 1977. They had three children together: Amber, Scotty, and Chandra. Kathy worked at several jobs through out her life, but she said that working at the Georgia Pacific plant in Bellingham, and as an Operating Engineer for the local 302 out of Seattle were the jobs she enjoyed the most. At Georgia Pacific Kathy was entrusted with the potentially dangerous job of overseeing the bleaching process of paper pulp. She was a careful worker and took her job very seriously knowing that the effects of any chemical leaks may be deadly to her community. To help counter the stress of such responsibility, Kathy would often rescue injured adult or baby pigeons that had fallen from their nests among the equipment at Georgia Pacific. She was known as the “Bird Lady” amongst her co-workers and brought home many birds to be raised or re-habilitated to the delight of her children. She loved teaching the baby birds how to fly. As an Operating Engineer Kathy ran many different machines, but her favorites were backhoes and cranes. She said that she found demolition jobs a lot of fun, but she was also fond of the many large construction projects in and around Seattle that she helped to complete, including that of the construction of Safeco Field. Kathy greatly esteemed working hard and enjoyed a reputation as one of the best women operators in the union. As a hobby, Kathy loved to raise pet rabbits and at one time she and her children boasted about having over 30 of the cute little things. Some of the rabbits she raised were sold or given to serious breeders and competitors and ended up placing very well in rabbit competitions and shows. She was an animal lover and through out her life had several much loved dogs as well. Kathy also completed the course to earn her official NASCAR driver’s license and enjoyed working on her husbands pit crew when he raced in the “Bomber” class at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe. Kathy and Scott were happily married for 20 years until Scott passed away on January 7, 1998. Kathy married her second husband John Woodman on June 31, 2000. They purchased an RV and toured the coasts of Washington, Oregon, and California with their two spoiled and much adored cats: “Buddly-boodles” and “Smiley-kitty.” Having aspired since childhood to be a marine biologist, Kathy loved spending time beach combing and observing marine life. She enjoyed teaching her grandkids all about the wonders of the beach. Kathy also had fun defending her title as the Undefeated Champion of “Scrabble” among her family and friends. Kathy also cherished spending time with her seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Maryjane, Evadya, Chase, Hailey, Abigail, Bianca, and Kayla. She was also excitedly anticipating the birth of her newest granddaughter in March who will be named Kathryn in honor of her “Nana.” Kathy and John enjoyed exploring the coast for several years until Kathy’s illness made her settle back in Washington in October of 2007. After two happy months of being back home with her kids and grandkids, Kathy passed away surrounded by loving family on January 8th 2008.
Please visit mom's memorial web site: January 15 Moms "Celebration of Life"In loving memory of Mom, we will be having a celebration of her life at the Fidalgo Island Church of Christ in Anacortes at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 19th. Please contact me if you are interested in attending. Thanks, -a
Just wanted to drop a quick note to assure everyone that both me and baby-to-be are doing ok. Jason is taking good care of us.
MOMOn December 29th mom suffered from a grand-mal seizure that led to heart failure. Even though she was given immediate CPR (thanks to Charlie) the blood flow to her brain was interrupted and she suffered massive, irreversible brain damage. She had no detectable higher brain function and no chance of recovery. There was nothing to be done for her but let her go.
Mom was taken off of life support and passed away on January 8th at 3:35 p.m. surrounded by loving family.
Please keep us in your prayers.
10 Years And 1 Day January 7th marked 10 years since my Dad passed away. On January 8th at 3:35 p.m. my Mom went to join him. For 10 years and one day, my mom lived on after the love of her life was gone. She did it for us, her kids. In that time she saw grandkids born, graduations, weddings, and funerals. She helped her teen-aged kids to become adults and she met John who became her second husband, in whom she was able to find some measure of comfort. She got herself an RV and cruised the Oregon coast. She loved it down there on the ocean. She would collect pretty rocks, polish them up and send them to her kids and grandkids. Evadya would call those pretty rocks, "My treasures!" and now I'll call them that too. I'll treasure everything about the last 10 years with mom. The good times, and the bad. The rapture, the sorrow, the laughter, and the pain... I will treasure it all. These are the things that make up this beautiful experience that we call life. -amber "That mothers and fathers both can perish untimely is no deliberate injustice on life's part....Life is just life." -Wendy Pini
